Former National Football League Player Antonio Brown Files Not Guilty Response in Attempted Murder Trial

Former NFL wide receiver Antonio Brown is traveling to Miami to address an murder attempt accusation related to a gunfire that occurred in May, with his counsel entering a innocent response on his behalf.

Jail records in Essex, New Jersey, show that Brown was freed on Tuesday morning for his move to Florida. Brown, one of the most popular figures in the National Football League, had waived transfer to Florida from New Jersey, in which he was detained after being arrested in the city of Dubai.

Brown’s counsel, Mark Eiglarsh, mentioned in an email that he has already submitted a documented innocent plea to the murder attempt charge. Brown could be in a Miami courtroom as soon as Wednesday early for a release proceeding, Eiglarsh added.

As per his detention document, Brown is accused of taking a pistol from a safety employee after a celebrity boxing contest in May and shooting a couple of shots at a person he had confronted with before. The alleged individual, Zul-Qarnain Kwame Nantambu, informed police that a bullet grazed his neck.

Eiglarsh asserted that Brown was merely protecting himself from Nantambu.

“The steps he was forced to take were solely in defense against the alleged victim’s violent actions. Brown was attacked that time and acted within his lawful right to protect himself,” Eiglarsh commented.

Brown was not right away detained because at first officers did not consider Nantambu as a victim. It only subsequently in May that Nantambu provided a detailed statement about the event to police and named Brown as the perpetrator, the affidavit indicates.

From his social media content, Brown had been staying in the city of Dubai for several weeks. In a message after the confrontation, Brown stated he was protecting himself because he was “jumped by numerous individuals who attempted to steal my valuables and bring physical injury to me.”

A category two attempted murder charge in Florida imposes a maximum 15-year prison term and up to a ten thousand dollar penalty in the instance of a conviction.

Brown has faced multiple judicial problems over the years. He before had been accused of battery of a truck driver, various domestic violence accusations, neglect to pay family payments and additional incidents.

Throughout a 2021 season game with his team against the New York Jets, Brown removed his shirt, protective gear and accessories and exited the arena, leading to his termination by the franchise and virtually concluding his NFL tenure.

Brown, who spent twelve years in the National Football League, was an top-tier player who devoted most of his time with Pittsburgh. For his professional life, Brown had 928 grabs for more than 12,291 yards, the twenty-eighth greatest of record. He was a 7-time Pro Bowl pick.
